How Often Should You Exfoliate Your Lips?

Hola, My lovelies.

I've missed writing here so much. Its been a while and I still can't get over how things have been lately. I hope you all are safe and doing well mentally. Today finally, I decided to share with you this one routine which has helped me in maintaining healthy chapped free lips.

The lips are more sensitive to chapping than the skin. Unlike the skin, the lips do not produce oils to protect them against drying. So it is obvious that our lips get chapped. There are other causes like Sun exposure can contribute to chapping of the lips. Licking or biting the lips is often a contributing factor.

Some steps to prevent chapped lips are:

  • Do not lick or bite the lips.
  • In bitter or blustery cold weather, cover the lips with a scarf.
  • Stay well hydrated by drinking lots of fluid.
  • Avoid a flavoured lip balm. The flavour can tempt the user to lick it.
  • Use a lip emollient that has a sunscreen in it when going outside during the day.
  • Exfoliate using any lip scrub, or brushing gently using a toothbrush.
  • Use a lip balm with a minimum of SPF 15.
Coming to the question, how often should you exfoliate your lips?
Well, This really depends on the severity of your chapped lips and how strong your scrub is. For the most part, using a lip scrub once a week is perfect for maintaining a smooth, flake-free smile. But, you can absolutely use every day if your mission to a beautiful smile is a top priority. I personal prefer exfoliating twice a week. For the best results, exfoliate at night and then immediately follow the process with an application of quality chapstick or lip balm. This will ensure that you wake up with smooth and plump lips in the morning.

What good does the exfoliation do?

However, by exfoliating the lips, you can neutralize lip discolouration and get rid of those pesky dark spots and impurities. Exfoliating the lips lifts the dead skin, and it helps to fade the darker areas that linger around your mouth. Most people skip this routine but use lip balm, hence suffers chapped lips.

There are thousands of options in the market when it comes to lip care but is equally easy to make one on your own when it comes to a lip scrub.

One of my favourite ways is to start by mixing together equal parts of olive oil and sugar. Then, use a washcloth to gently scrub the mixture onto the lips, which helps exfoliating. If you don't have olive oil and sugar, you can use baking soda and water instead. Another way is to simply mix coffee powder with sugar. Lastly but definitely the easiest yet effective is to uses toothbrush.

I've discovered a lot of lip scrubs over time but ENN Kandy Floss Lip Scrub is my most favourite.
The lips scrub is 100% healthy and pure made with the highest quality natural ingredients like Brown Sugar, Coconut Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Beeswax, Honey Extract. Also, the Bubblegum flavour has my heart, The flavour and the fragrance is really decent and not too intense. All you have to do is just apply Kandy floss with a clean finger, and let the exfoliating caster sugar and softening jojoba oil scrub away dead skin and infuse moisture to rejuvenate your smile leaving your lips to pout ready and gives supple, plump and fuller pink lips.
